This image is a combination of oil pastels, inks and acrylic. The oil pastels show the diversity in shadow and light, even though they aren't skin tones. The black ink lines are to define the lines in the body and explore the interior lines the body creates. I think this piece is a bold and vibrant piece that emphasises the diversity of tones and shades.

Continuous Life Drawing of a Life Model
This image is an example of continuous line drawings of the life model that can in for our visual studies lesson. This is done with crayons, and is a layering of two positions, one where he was lying down and the other was when he was sat up. I think these two not only show the lines of his outline but explore the lines his body makes, the lines on his skin, and the lines the shadows make.
Paper "Nautical" Themed Outfit
During the first month of the foundation course we did a induction into each specialism, and this was my outcome for fashion/textiles. I was given a word and then had to develop an outfit that resembled the word. The word I was given was the word nautical and created a piece that shows the waves of the ocean on the top, and a mermaid skirt to look at the fantasy side of the word nautical.
Typography Prints
During the first month of the foundation course we did a induction into each specialism, and this was my outcome from my print session. I was given a word and had to develop that into a typography print. I used black oil based print with a variety of size letters, and on different materials.
Material and Puff Binding Explortaion
These are close up images of the intricate layering of fabrics and prints. I thought the ballerina prints showed the delicacy of movement. The four squares all have puff binding on them, that in some places have burnt into them, and others the puff binding has raised a considerable amount. The final pieces show a highly textured and delicate piece.
The Sunset Collections
In my collections project we had a starting project in which we had to draw collections, however because I enjoy painting, I thought that I would extend the project by painting a collection of photographs of sunsets that I had taken in Australia.
Newspaper Man 3-D Project
At the start of my Foundation course, we were separated into groups of no more than 10 and we were given the challenge to build a man, that we had photographed in our local town, from only newspaper, masking tape and sellotape. I found that this task was a great way of team building and it allowed me to develop my team skills, and my creative skills.
Ink and Pencil Drawings from the 3-D Newspaper Man
These two drawings are drawn from the 3-D Newspaper Man. I have draw in inks and food colouring to create an illustration of his face, which I think portrays the expressions and lines on his face well. I have also done a continuous line drawing of the newspaper man in pencil and then over the top of that is a continuous line drawing of the man we built the 3-D piece from, which I think shows the similarities of the newspaper man and the actual man himself.
"Body Project" Sketchbook Expeimentation
I find the colours and the screen-prints in these two pieces are bold eye catching. The richness in the blues and reds add vibrancy, which is then emphasised by the intricate detailing from the free machine embroidery. The embroidery takes a flat print and gives the hearts a texture, as does the lace appliqué on the right ventricle.
Oil Pastel Drawing of a Pigs Head
One of the visual studies lessons was to draw from a real pigs head. The head was done in oil pastels with a black acrylic background. I did this as I thought it would bring out the radiant colours from the oil pastels. Although quite a flat piece I think this artwork shows a build up of colours and tones that still resembles the pigs head.
Illustration of the A-Level Wedding Dress
This is an illustration of the wedding dress, using watercolours and inks. I wanted this illustration to capture the elegance and beauty of the dress but also have a fashion edge to it. I believe I have achieved this by emphasising the length and elegance, and also by having the bold black un-contrived lines.
A-Level Work Photoshoot
Although this is my A-level work, I find it shows the development of a garment, and the beauty in details. The dress to me shows the beauty in simplicity, the ivory/cream colours give an innocent and naive image that can only be achieved from a garment that has had a longer amount of time spent on it.
Face Manipulation Ink Painting
These were done during my Visual Studies lesson, in which we explore facial expressions, and face manipulation, and both these images explore the face being manipulated. I used black ink and food colouring to draw with, and found that it gave a strong deep colour. I enjoyed manipulating my face to get a diverse image, with a variety of lines thickness, and a range of contrived and un-contrived lines.
Initial Starting Task For "The Collections Project"
I thought that this image best displayed my continuous line drawings. It was the starter task for "The Collection Project", which was to sketch/draw sections of collections, which I then took further and used the same style of drawing but changed drawing collections, to drawing a life model.
Development and Sampling Sketchbook Work
This image displays a range of experiments, such as layering prints on fabrics to explore the idea of movement in print, bleaching magazine prints to see how it would affect the final image, and spraying spray paint onto a variety of materials to see which had the best outcome. This range of techniques is only a small sample of the experiments done in the "Collections Project".
Development and Sampling Emulsion Printing.
This image is a montage of emulsion print experimentation and development pages. By doing these experiments, I found that emulsion prints weren't didn't always have the outcome you expected, as you can rub away too much and be left with rips in the prints. However I had a fondness for this technique as it took and image and then gave it a destroyed look that couldn't be duplicated.
Development of the Photographs
These are multiple pages from my sketch book merged together to cover the development of the photographs. I have taken the images from sketches, prints of photographs and then into emulsion prints. I was happy with how the prints turned out, as they showed the image, but also gave the images a destructive look to them.
Design Page for The Collections Project
This is a page from my sketchbook, in which you can see the idea sketched out and developed, it includes fabric samples, colour-ways and an annotated design for the dress before the spray paint, and after.
Illustrations of the Final Dress
I wanted to create an illustration that used a variety of mediums and techniques. This is why I painted the original black and white illustration with acrylic paint, and then scanned it in. I experimented with spray paint on one, and the manipulated the other on Photoshop. I was happy with all three outcomes, as they all capture the essence of the dress in different ways.
Final Photoshoot For Collections Project
These three photographs show off the Alexander McQueen inspired dress from all angles. When photographing this garment, I found that the 5 meters of gathering gave the dress a lot of movement. I then experimented with this and found that it moved gracefully, in a way a ballet outfit would move.
